"Bottle Can Study Report Summary": our market research on the Bottle Can in the French market

Here is the outline of our market research conducted in France in May 2007.

Since its launch in 2000, the Bottle Can market is expanding year by year. The Bottle Can's preservability and resealability backed by several innovative technologies that lead the new era are well suited for many types of drinks such as carbonated beverages. In the Japanese market, more than half of the aluminum cans are already Bottle Cans (liquid base).

We, Daiwa Can Company, dominate the industry with about two-thirds of the bottle can market share as a leading canmaker.

We see huge potential for our New Bottle Can in overseas markets; therefore we conducted market research in Europe. We studied end-user assessment regarding the container's acceptability in France, where we won the Oscar, the French Packaging and Container Award, EMBALLAGE 2005, for our product's design and functionality.

As a result, we confirmed that the Bottle Can's high functions can stimulate consumers' purchasing intention positively even with higher market price, if understood well. In addition, from the viewpoint of future market growth, juice and sparkling water will also see great potential with our packaging of the Bottle Can.

We will enhance our development of innovative packaging to satisfy the demands for function and design that the research highlighted. We will continue contributing to the creation of new business opportunities and the "affluent lifestyle."
